Debra Burns

MA, RN-BC, LPC, CCTP, CCTS

As a highly experienced registered nurse with over 20 years of dedicated service

My extensive knowledge and understanding of the human body, brain, and neurological functions uniquely position me to excel as a trauma-informed therapist.

Throughout my career, I have acquired an in-depth understanding of the intricate workings of the human body, including the complexities of the nervous system and its vital role in regulating our physical and mental well-being. This deep understanding enables me to recognize the profound impact of trauma on both the neurological and psychological aspects of an individual's life.

As an RN, I have a deep understanding of the physical and medical aspects of trauma. I am trained to assess and address the immediate and long-term physical health needs of my patients. This knowledge allows me to recognize the physiological manifestations of trauma and provide appropriate interventions to support their recovery.

In addition to physical care

My nursing background equips me with strong assessment and observation skills. I am attuned to subtle changes in my patients' well-being and can identify signs of distress or triggers that may be related to their traumatic experiences. This heightened awareness helps me create a safe and supportive environment for my clients during therapy sessions.

Moreover, my experience as an RN has enhanced my ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals. I understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to care and value the input and expertise of colleagues from various disciplines. This collaborative mindset allows me to provide a more comprehensive and coordinated treatment plan for my clients, addressing both their physical and emotional needs.
